...but gravity's rainbow kicked my ass. could not get into that one, even after 150 pages. so now i'm asking my friends what their favorite books are while i take a break from that list. i'm up for any genre, just want someone else to pick the books for me for a little while.
when i go to the library i just browse for hours without picking anything so suggestions would be great at this point.
thanks,

The movie is a lot less about Phillip Seymor Hoffman (too lazy to look up spelling) than the trailers lead you to believe. It's a decent movie, but mostly it's 30 montages back to back.

For someone who for 22 years or so took the path of least resistance while being quite successful, it is beyond frustration to be working my hardest while failing so spectacularly.
I hate this job, they make fun of me for asking for more work to do so for five hours on friday i was reading the CDC website in an effort to kill time.

| unsurprisingly, dollhouse has been cancelled. |

Definitely the weakest of joss whedon's tv ventures, dollhouse suffered from a horrible time slot and kind of a confusing premise. It took me half a season before I figured out that the dollhouse was supposed to be hated, and the reveals of metaplot were a little slow in the coming. i read somewhere that joss whedon had a five year plan for this show, maybe he should have started on the third or fourth year. it was also hard to figure out who to root for, the fbi agent that i didn't really care about, or the prostitute that didn't develop a personality until about 10 episodes in.
Season 2 has really stepped up the character development in droves, but it was too late to save the show. I'm curious as to what he does with the label when it's finished. the entire 13 episode season will be aired, but i'm not sure if he had enough time to make a series finally, i guess you could always go back to the 13th episode of season one for that one, the best episode in my opinion, too bad it was never aired on tv.
i guess now joss whedon can go and finish all those movies he's been talking about for years now. maybe he's learned that fox could kind of care less about new products and try out his next tv series on a different network.

Just got a creditor for the 1-month of lease i broke during the summer. Thankfully it's only an extra $300 above the rent I would have paid on the place (i left the place very clean). Unthankfully I will still need to pay it if i want to have any kind of a credit score ever again.
I was so close to having a clean record, the last screw up was a forgotten 1 month bill to a cable company i moved away from in 2004.
Seven more years i suppose.

One of my college friends has really hit it big over at insomniac games, his current demo reel features a lot of his work on the new ratchet and clank game. warning: spoilers!
in regards to my own animation future, i sent an e-mail to the promising job because i'm weak and couldn't wait until the 15th. no response yet, but they always take a bit of time, plus, there was a tornado in shreveport that may be slowing down response time.
it's taking everything i've got not to call them before monday.

...i feel like i should go out and do something with it.
sometimes i don't leave this house except for my once a week D&D game. Being a shut in was stifling at first, but i've gotten pretty used to it, never underestimate the power of the human spirit to adapt. besides, i feel guilty if i'm doing something other than job hunting, i can minimize that if i'm not job hunting somewhere near a computer, like, "oh, i'll get to it in a minute."
i don't know, not much happens on a thursday middle of the day, but it's supposed to be raining, and i love being out in the rain, and soon it'll be too cold to be wet outside.
i got an e-mail from the interview, it said that 'things were going slower there than they hoped, and weren't ready to take on an intern, maybe late november.' i've interpreted it as a gentle rejection, maybe they think i'll forget about the position if they keep pushing off when they have to definitively say "yeah" or "nay". I responded with 'still interested, don't forget about me, will clean toilets.' i haven't told my parents yet, let them have a few more days of optimism.
...so close...
i haven't been dating because i didn't want to plan on being in this town for too long. i may alter that plan, since the part time work should start soon (was finally asked to pee in a cup), and i'll be able to pay for a meal out here or there, even if i can't afford to move out of the 'rents place. man, how high school is that?

| Of gay gaming. |
|
|

So my high school buddies haven't been gaming that much lately because two of them recently bought a house in another state and haven't been around that much lately (although they do make it down about twice a month). So i've been thinking about joining a supplemental group, because i love group geek time.
I figured i'd start out by looking for a gay gaming group to counterbalance my high school group (which is admittedly pretty gay, with two gay guys and one straight women who wishes she was gay (one of the married out of town couple)), and it's just fun to have a bunch of gay people gaming, even better would be a group of bears gaming, but i'm not holding my breath.
okay, so the whole point of this post: i started my search by typing in "little rock gay geeks" into google...
all i got back was dating/sexy geeks sites...
...
so lame...

Those las vegas ads make me want to visit the places they're making fun of. mainly because they're dickish, but also because i'd just been there, and while interesting, the off the track vacations can be really fun too.
so i've remade the images in the ad to make them look a little more enticing, or enticing to my minds eye. here ya go:

i could so break this time travel and put everyone's mind back to sanity. find someone who vividly recalls their hands and surgically remove the tip of one of their fingers.
predestination broken, let's get on with our lives.
speaking of dumb time travel. i'll finally admit that heroes isn't even really worth watching for the camp value anymore, that show resets to normal more often than a wile e. coyote and road runner cartoon.

I think you could take out Hiro Protagonist and the world it takes place in and it would be a perfect book. As it is, it's only a fairly interesting book.
Actually, the world stuff may have made more sense if I read this book in 1992 when it came out, but at this point future predictions are fairly off and comes off very 90s. It may also have helped to be very jaded.
On the other hand, the parts about Sumer are tres cool.
Great wiki quote: "The protagonist is the aptly-named Hiro Protagonist (Hiro being a homophone of hero)." and Protagonist being a word as well.
All in all I can see why it's on the top 100. The influence on web-culture are pretty apparent, as well as vocabulary still in use today. Probably not in my top 100 though.
